Bug in ActionTec GT701 (Sunday, November 25th, 2007) | ![]() |

Grr! There's a bug in the firmware (including the latest version available from Qwest) of the ActionTec GT701 DSL modem. When using DHCP, the DHCP server sends its own IP address instead of the primary DNS IP. The secondary DNS IP works correctly. This can cause delays of a few seconds when loading web sites, for example. The only workarounds are to not use DHCP, use a different DHCP server, or hack your client to ignore that IP (one idea here). |

“...The Mac reached out and guided me into all the ways I could use
it. It was exactly right. Some years later, I tried Windows, but come on
now. Start two computers, side by side, one with Mac OS, one with
Windows, and what reasonable person could argue that Windows is not the
wallflower?”
