There are three things which are too wonderful for me, four which I do not understand: the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the middle of the sea, and the way of a man with a maid. (Prov. 30:18-19)
He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. (Prov. 18:22)
My son, give attention to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; that you may observe discretion, and your lips may reserve knowledge. For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and smoother than oil is her speech; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword... Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house, lest you give your vigor to others, and your years to the cruel one; lest strangers be filled with your strength and your hard-earned goods go to the house of an alien; and you groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed; and you say, "How I have hated instruction! And my heart spurned reproof! And I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to my instructors!" (Prov. 5:1-4, 8-13)
Drink water from your own cistern, and fresh water from your own well. Should your springs be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? Let them be yours alone, and not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. As a loving hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; be exhilarated always with her love. For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress, and embrace the bosom of a foreigner? For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He watches all his paths. (Prov. 5:15-21)
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Or can a man walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched? So is the one who goes in to his neighbor's wife; whoever touches her will not go unpunished. (Prov. 6:27-29)
The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; he who would destroy himself does it. Wounds and disgrace he will find, and his reproach will not be blotted out. For jealousy enrages a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not accept any ransom, nor will he be content though you give many gifts. (Prov. 6:32-35)
He who troubles his own house will inherit wind... (Prov. 11:29a)
An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who shames him is as rottenness in his bones. (Prov. 12:4)
The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands. (Prov. 14:1)
A foolish son is destruction to his father, and the contentions of a wife are a constant dripping. House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. (Prov. 19:13-14)
Better is a dish of vegetables where love is, than a fattened ox and hatred with it. (Prov. 15:17)
Better is a dry morsel and quietness with it, than a house full of feasting with strife. (Prov. 17:1)
It is better to live in a corner of a roof, than in a house shared with a contentious woman. (Prov. 21:9)
It is better to live in a desert land, than with a contentious and vexing woman. (Prov. 21:19)
A constant dripping on a day of steady rain and a contentious woman are alike; he who would restrain her restrains the wind, and grasps oil with his right hand. (Prov. 27:15-16)
