PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONAL EXPERIENCE
1995/ 1996 Organize the summer program for the International Christian school onboard the ship (Included weekly or more field trips)
2000-present: Organized the band program at Casa Bernabe (recruiting, teaching, scheduling, finding instruments, finding music, arranging music, acquiring stands, uniforms, lockers, folders and all other needs of a band.)
2004- present: Director of the Performing Arts Group of Casa Bernabe. (Discipleship training and evangelism training using the performing arts as the medium to do outreach). I developed the program and write the curriculum. We do extensive touring around the country (Guatemala) over a period of 2 months. During that time we are gone several times for a complete week or 10 days though some are just day trips. (organizing all the transportation, food, housing, activities, presentation sites, etc.)
2009 Took 2 students from Casa Bernabe to the USA to attend a summer music camp (organizing the logistics of fund raising/ visas/ passports/ international air travel/housing before the camp/ auditions for the camp/ in-country transportation/ fun activities/ cross cultural training for the kids/ etc.)
2010 Took 4 students to do a concert tour in the USA and to attend the Csehy music camp (organizing the logistics of visas/ passports/ airline tickets/ luggage/ scheduling concerts/ fun activities/ housing/ food/ in-country transportation/ fund raising/cross cultural training for the kids/etc.)

Debby Lyttle - Co-founder and choir director

Debby Lyttle es percusionista y es directora de bandas en el Colegio Maya, un colegio internacional en la Ciudad de Guatemala. Debby es muy conocida en la comunidad musical de Guatemala y es directora del concierto Mesías que se celebra al final de cada año y que tiene renombre internacional, lo cuál ha traído mucho prestigio a la música en general de Guatemala.

Born and raised in the Portland, Oregon area, Debby Lyttle began her music studies on the violin in the fourth grade when it was offered at Ardenwald Grade School in Milwaukie. She started studying piano the following year and continued throughout university. In junior high she discovered the marimba hiding in the back and dropped violin to play mallet percussion in the band. At Clackamas High School the band director, John Bigelow, handed her a pair of timpani sticks and said, "See what you can do!"
 Debby Lyttle attended Clackamas Community College on a music scholarship for two years and married Ron Lyttle in the middle of the spring term (bad timing). She dropped half of her classes, went to work, and a year and a half later her son Andy was born. Being a stay-at-home full-time mom was mind-numbing, so she went back to CCC one class at a time. Anna was born 18 months later. Being a mother to two small children consumed most of her time, but she finally finished at CCC and, continuing with one class at a time, she graduated from Marylhurst University in December of 1986 with a B.A. in music. During this time she was the accompanist for the choirs at Gladstone High School. With the passage of Measure 5 in '89, her job was cut. Having seen it coming, she attended Warner Pacific College and received her teaching license in '92. She taught in Welches and Lake Oswego, before teaching general music, band, choir, orchestra, and Spanish to home-schoolers for five years in the Linkup program in the Oregon City School District.

Debby Lyttle earned her Master of Arts in Teaching Music from Portland State University in 2000. She and her husband went overseas to Guatemala in 2001. Unfortunately, her husband died suddenly the following year. She had already made the biggest change in her life the year before so, she chose to stay on in the very nurturing environment of her new school.
Debby Lyttle is currently the music teacher at Colegio Maya, the American International School of Guatemala City where she teaches grades 3-12, general music, band, choir, guitar, beginning instrumental music, and world music drumming.

Debby Lyttle is director of the Guatemala Community Choir which performs the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah annually at the National Theater in Guatemala City and at Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua, Guatemala.

Debby Lyttle has also served as the choir master for the opera chorus with Rivadavia since 2006.

Richard Skaggs - Co-founder and camp director

Richard Skaggs es educador profesional, jubilado, Cristiano y toca trombón.
Tiene una manera muy especial para tratar con los participantes y es totalmente bilingüe español/inglés.

I played the trombone for approximately 13 years, starting when I was in the sixth grade. I intended to make music my life. Although I was not one of those who blend as one into their instrument I was nevertheless one of the best in our area during secondary schooling and was fortunate to be involved in an excellent music program at Las Cruces High School. I attended several music camps during these years, the best one at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M.

I studied music at the University of New Mexico until invited by the U.S. Army to become a tank driver. After my discharge I returned to school and realized I had lost my edge. After two more years of honest effort I decided to discontinue my music career.

I finished my B.A. in Psychology at New Mexico State University where I received an athletic scholarship and after graduation became a swimming coach in southern California. I never lost my love for music however. I later returned to NMSU for a Master’s in exercise physiology.

Less than a year after college graduation I was invited by the Guatemalan Olympic Committee to coach the national team and had a very successful experience in Guatemala eventually taking groups to the Olympics twice as well as many other places.
During my tenure in Guatemala I met my wife, Guisela, with whom I have been married for 41 years and have four daughters, one of which has pursued music as an adult. We are all involved Christians.

After coaching I became a school principal for a number of years as well as pursuing other endeavors which included organizing sports events.

During the time I have lived in Guatemala I became interested in motor racing and had a successful career as a driver, winning some 40 events. It is relevant to mention this due to the fact that after retiring as a driver I have remained very active in organizing motor sports events. Up to now I have organized approximately 50 events. To this day I continue to be active in organizing motorcycle and automotive events.

I see a lot of carryover from having this experience to organizing a music camp. I became acquainted with Vivian and Debby and it was only natural that we organize this activity. It just seems to be a logical way to introduce young musicians to Jesus Christ.

Actualmente Director General de Bandas Militares a nivel Guatemala, Director de Banda Sinfonica Marcial del Ejercito de Guatemala, la idea de un catalogador digital surgio gracias al trabajo y esfuerzoas realizados conjuntamente dirigidos por un gran equipo de trabajo como lo es el Teniente Coronel Nery Cano, Teniente Carlos Vargas, Sargento Tecnico Erasmo Velasquez, y el Sargento Primero Pedro Vargas Merida, creandose asi el primer catalogador virtual a nivel Guatemala teniendo asi un mejor control de carpetas activas y dadas de baja en el Historico Archivo de la Banda Sinfonica Marcial. Como se a caracterizado el Maestro Nery Cano de estar a la vanguardia con la tecnologia musical gracias a su apoyo en la Banda Sinfonica Marcial se cuenta con Sistemas digitales Reason, Cubase, Sibelius, WaveLab, y Actualmente Catalogo Virtual este ultimo creado en la Banda Sinfonica Marcial.
